3 Tips for Easy Cleaning - Hearts and Laserbeams

When you are running ragged with a thousand things to do the last thing you want to do is clean house. However, leaving it for later can be a recipe for disaster. Your home can get so cluttered that it becomes overwhelming to even think about cleaning.

Instead of freaking out, try these three tips for easy cleaning:

Company Clean

The first thing I do when I see my house in massive disorder is to become very practical about it. I donโ€™t have time to spend all day cleaning.

Instead, I take about an hour to clean up for โ€˜companyโ€™. This means I focus on the areas that someone would see if they came to visit. Areas like the living room can be spruced up quicklyย by picking up the clutter and dusting off the table. Fluff a few cute pillows and although you havenโ€™t done a deep clean it looks a lot better.

By tackling the look of a room before you try to dive into a deep clean, you can help it seem not so overwhelming. It also works great when company does arrive unexpectedly!

One Room at a Time

Another method to help you clean without hyperventilating is to focus on one room at a time.

Make this room your project, and donโ€™t even think about anything else. I typically hate the kitchen, so I start there first. I do the dishes, clean off the counters and mop the floors.

By the time I am done, I’m tired, but the kitchen looks great and I can be proud of my accomplishment. Then when the other rooms start to get you down, ย visit the clean room and remind yourself that you accomplished a great thing today.

Just One Task

Sometimes I canโ€™t face tackling a whole room, so I focus on just one task. Maybe I will clean off and dust all the flat surfaces, or clean all the floors. I go from room to room mopping, sweeping and vaccuming. Then when I am done, the floor looks great and I have really accomplished something.

It can be hard to dig yourself out of a mess, especially when you have been dealing with unexpected illness or disaster. However, you can still get everything back in order an hour at a time with these easy cleaning tips.

Your turn – what time-saving tips do you have to keep the house clean?
