How to Make the Best Cup of Coffee

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Folgers. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

It’s been a good long while since I’ve been able to properly celebrate Fancy Coffee Friday, out at a coffee house sipping a mocha latte in celebration of a successful work week and the upcoming weekend.

It’s getting tougher and tougher to take a good chunk of time off of work for weekly coffee breaks… Being out in the country just about everything is at least 15 or 20 minutes away, so that’s 30-40 minutes of driving on top of an hour for coffee, and then trying to get the littles to be on board with getting back to work in the office afterwards… And if I can’t get my work done because of Fancy Coffee Friday, then I’ve gotta change how I celebrate it for a little while.

But I’ll tell you – the only thing better than Fancy Coffee Friday out of the house at the end of the week is having your kids help make your coffee for Fancy Coffee Friday. Even if they consistently get the flavor to sugar to creamer to coffee ratio completely wrong, it’s still the best cup of coffee. Ever. Lemme show you how it’s done.

But first – before you try having your baby make a cup of coffee…

If you have your kids make your cup of coffee in the morning… 100% undistracted supervision. Always. While Joy’s in charge of adding things like Folgers flavors, sugar, and cream, she never gets to pour the coffee into the mug. It would be a recipe for disaster.

The following photos aren’t the most crisp and clear because I was paying more attention to the child with the coffee than I was to the camera – we can all deal with that, right?

  1. Choose your Coffee Mug
If you ask Joy, this is one of the most important steps to the best cup of coffee. She’ll carefully stand on the counter and peruse the assortment of mugs in the cupboard, and nine times out of ten she’ll pick the vintage one with zebras on it that I’ve had since I was 5 because she’s obsessed with horses. She’ll sit down and check it out for a bit, turning it over in her hands and inspecting all of the zebras, before approving it for use as the receptacle for morning caffeine delivery. (Don’t worry, I’m always standing right there making sure she doesn’t fall off the counter.)

  1. Choose your Flavors
Always mocha. If anyone ever asks you what flavor I want my coffee, it’s mocha. And sugar and a little cream til it’s tan.

  1. Mix it Up!
This whole have your baby make your best cup of coffee thing can get a little messy, but I promise it’s worth it.

What were those flavor syrups in the photo?

Folgers just came out with these awesome little bottles of coffee flavor heaven:

On those days when you can’t make it out of the house to celebrate Fancy Coffee Friday, you can still get the taste of your favorite coffee house brew in your own kitchen. (Bonus – you won’t have to fight all the hipsters with laptops full of that pretentious screenplay for a table.)

One thing I love about these Folgers flavors is they’re not humongous bottles you need to clear a lot of space for in your cupboard. They nestle right in next to your canister of Folgers coffee in the cupboard, and you could even pop em in your purse if you wanted a little on the go flavor action.

One lucky person will get to pick two Folgers flavors to try out for free – best of luck!
