As I’ve been working on implementing the awesome Pinterest style scrolling powers of the new illustration portfolio, there’s a few older projects that need to get added that I never really got a chance to tell you about! First up is a fashion illustration project I worked on for Nicole Longstreath called The Wardrobe Bible.

The Wardrobe Bible was a downloadable guide to fashion that helped the reader hone in on their own personal style, and then guided them in how to choose the right pieces of clothing to support that style. The fun part was I got to do a lot of fashion illustrations. I mean like, a ton.

2013 was basically the Summer of Constantly Drawing, which transitioned into the Fall of Digitally Painting My Work in Photoshop.

You know what I’m realizing now that I’m sharing these drawings of fashionable ladies? I miss having red hair.

Not that I dye mine.

It was naturally that color… Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Fashion Illustration: Drawings of Accessories

True story, rhinestones, gemstones, diamonds, all that glitzy shimmery stuff takes forever to draw, but as you really get into it the repetition of the faceted surfaces becomes really zen and therapeutic. I could pretty much draw geometric shapes for hours, especially little tiny ones.

One of my favorite things about the bracelet at the top of this image is the shine I was able to give it – it just looks so bright and shiny and happy.

I’ve been wearing glasses almost daily ever since Phil was born, and the only thing I miss about constant contact lens wearing is the ability to just throw on a pair of cute sunglasses without thinking. When you’ve got to stop, think about it before leaving for the beach, wash your hands really good, put contacts in, and then hunt for that one really great pair of oversized leopard print cat eye sunglasses you have, all the spontaneity is gone.

But at least you still have your really cute sunglasses.

This fashion illustration of purses and handbags is like telling the future because I totally have a bag just like the green one now, but mine’s in red. I got an awesome deal on it at Tuesday Morning.

So there.

I never really wore belts until a few years ago, and then I became obsessed. My favorite kind of belts are the really wide ones with a big ol’ buckle on em, in bright pops of color.

I’m just really happy with this scarf drawing.

Fashion Illustration: Drawings of Clothes

I love the flowy feel of this evening dress, and the unique challenge of creating a surface pattern design that was similar enough to the reference dress without ripping it off. I love the painterly feel, and the organic touches of the branches and leaves… This dress is just really cool.

And no Wardrobe Bible would be complete without a Little Black Dress of course! This LBD is a fun spin on the classic with a fuller skirt and lace overlay.

This drawing of a denim jacket almost makes me want to wear a denim jacket.

Just kidding, denim jackets are totally not for me. But you can wear them and I’ll still like you.

Promise.

The textures of this tweed dress were super fun to draw.

You know I’m channeling my inner Kelly and singing “Let’s Get Some Shoes” in my mind as I share these photos. I love the red pumps like woah.
