Funny Conversation – Two Moms Trying to Talk
If you’re a mom, you can relate to this funny conversation I’m gonna share with you.
It’s a scene Josh and I know all too well these days. Trying to talk to each other about normal everyday things like what we’re having for dinner turns into a display of multitasking at its finest. We juggle our own conversation with the conversation our babbly toddler throws our way. Sometimes while actually juggling this toddler’s monkey-climbing antics on our arms and legs.
It can be really frustrating sometimes to be heard. But it can also lead to some seriously hilarious results.
On the Fourth of July, Phil and I went out to Josh’s Uncle Donnie and Aunt Yvonne’s house. (Josh sadly hasn’t had that particular day off in years, so he had to work.) Phil was so excited to see this sand and water play set the family had gotten for him:
And his cousin Thomas was so excited to crack open the box and start rearembling it immediately! He was on sticker detail, as Michelle and I rearembled the pieces and talked about their recent visit to Disneyland.
I’m sorry…
As Michelle and I tried to talk about their recent visit to Disneyland.
Aunt Yvonne was quietly taping this awesomely funny conversation, which she dubbed the classic struggle of “women trying to have it all”. We juggle family, work, and clever conversation and come through with flying colors!
A Funny Conversation: Two Moms Trying to Talk
I’m sort of really mortified by the ridiculousness of my facial expressions as I’m trying to keep up. Here’s one of my favorite awful faces:
Admit it, you know exactly what this is like! (Especially the part where you end up kind of looking like a jackrear on the internets. I’m really familiar with that one.)

you crack me up!
Steph,
We laughed and laughed at that. It is so true. Thanks for posting and sharing. Great job on the writing.
Yvonne
This is our family dinner every night!!! I love it! I also am having a hard time at playdates now because of the same thing- what used to be a playdate with four moms and four little babies is now grossly out of balance- four moms and ELEVEN kids, ranging from 4 months to six! Too many kids=zero complete conversations!
