Happy Halloween! (Who’s Ready for a Pregnant Halloween Costume?)

I’ve totally fallen off the wagon with belly pics during this pregnancy – I’m hoping my pregnant Halloween costume will suffice!

This is one I’ve had in the back of my mind since 2010 when we were expecting Phil. Only problem then was he was born in September. Wah wah wahhhhhhh. But like any great creative idea, it stuck around like a low rumbly murmur in my brains.

Is it weird that I thought about my pregnant Halloween costume almost as soon as I found out we were expecting in July?

I hope that’s not weird. (“oh good! I’m pregnant! I can finally make Josh and I dress up as a couple of wayward teenagers!”)

Behold – Juno and Bleeker in all their awkward teen glory:

Juno and Bleeker Pregnant Halloween Costumes - Hearts and Laserbeams

The only downside to our getups is we don’t actually get to go out in public as a couple in em. We put our costumes together for a Halloween party a few weeks ago. The night before the party, Josh was raging sick with the same stomach bug that wreaked havoc on pretty much everyone at our church. So party night, we were in bed at 8pm like a couple of old fogeys. (Which isn’t all that far off from normal.)

Josh is workin’ tonight, so I’m a trick or treating Juno with no Bleeker. Juno’s pretty subtle, it’s mostly just that orange stripey shirt that hammers it home, but without her boyfriend’s running getup she might just fade into Halloween obscurity. I think that can be part of the Halloween fun, too – who’s got the most subtle costume that can still get recognized?

Last year’s prize went to Jenn and her Grey Garden’s costume. Which a random guy thought was a Muslim costume. And then they thought my retro stewardess was a Jew costume.

And they were happy because the two of us were out having fun together.

This guy…

He was drunk.

(Do people really dress up like that? Like pick a nationality and go as that for Halloween? Please don’t answer that.)

So instead of crazy Halloween party pics of the two of us, you get two pictures that were taken separately by each of us, and photoshopped together. Which made me realize 2 things about myself:

1) I miss my point and shoot camera. The iPhone just isn’t cutting it, and I’m not happy with the photo quality anymore. I want MOAR MEGAPIXELS! And also more control over the photos I’m shootin’.

2) I am such a ridiculous art director. When I shot the photo of Josh in his costume, we got a good one in 4 shots. (Which also… He’s cute. It was easy.) When Josh was taking pics of my costume, I had to keep asking him to redo it. Because in this photo I’m not turned enough so you can see the shirt. In this photo, my face looks dumb. In this photo, I’m clenching my stomach muscles and my belly doesn’t look fat enough.

I am such a ridiculous art director with my life sometimes.

But getting back to the topic at hand…

What’s the funniest pregnant Halloween costume you can come up with?

Leave your answer in the comments – Happy Halloween, everyone! I’ll be sure to share pics of Phil in his black scary cat costume soon!
