Phil really wants me to be off of work right now – so my goal is to describe this super quick Christmas ornament craft in less than 10 minutes!

Last weekend was the Christmas party for the women’s group at church. Part of the fun, along with taking the bus to Statesboro for lunch at The Beaver House, was an ornament swap.

I had big plans beforehand to create this totally bizarre cheesy Christmas ornament of myself giving a thumbs up just to see who would take it home.

But then work was busy, home was busier, and I never even got around to running out to a store to buy an ornament.

Saturday rolled around – Christmas party day. For whatever reason, I woke up crazy early. Josh and Phil slept later than usual. Leaving me just enough time to bust out a quick Christmas ornament craft in time for the party!

You’ll need:

• A blank plastic Christmas ornament – I got mine at Wal-mart, but these are pretty close. You could also get glass Christmas ornaments if you want.
• Paint for the inside – For the inside of this one, I used Martha Stewart silver gilding
• White paint for the snowflakes
• Paint brushes – ignore the big foam one in the picture, I wasn’t sure how I was going to paint up this ornament at the time! I used a small flat one to create the snowflake pattern, and a small round one for the little polka dots between them.

So here’s what you do:

1. Take the little plastic topper off the ornament. Pour craft paint inside the Christmas ornament, and swirl it around until the inside is fully coated.
2. Put the topper back on.
3. Using a small flat craft brush and the white paint, get busy painting snowflakes! They’re super easy – paint a cross, then paint an x on top of that. Then add some dots in between your snowflakes for interest!

Seriously, that’s all it takes. Finish off the top with a pretty ribbon for hanging, and you’re good to go!

This is a great quick Christmas ornament craft for kids, and you can go crazy with the possibilities! Think about different color paints for the insides of the ornaments, and different designs you could paint on the outside. If you don’t trust yourself with a paintbrush, what about gluing rhinestones or something else to the outside?
