Show and Tell: Blog Tweaks for Cupcakes and Cutlery

Kristin Ausk of the ever-delicious Meringue Bake Shop recommended me to her friend Sharon Garofalow of Cupcakes and Cutlery for some graphic design support last month. Sharon had started a website redesign recently. She hit a point where she liked where her new blog header was headed (you see what I did there?), but wasn’t entirely sure it was ready for prime time:

Not bad, right? Cupcakes and Cutlery was heading in a totally cute and hip direction! I agreed that it could use just a little finessing, and we were off – I think we did about 20 versions of the blog header, refining and redesigning according to what Sharon was liking best during the design process. Once that was all gussied up, it was time to create a coordinating background repeat pattern. Something cute but still cool, and not too overpowering when sitting with the new blog header.

We kept most of the elements in the original design, just tweaked the layout and added a little snap and pizazz to it! The changes are also subtle enough for Cupcakes and Cutlery to continue using their current business cards without there being too much of a major jump in the branding, which is nice. Save paper where you can, folks!

If you head on over to the Cupcakes and Cutlery site now, Sharon’s entered a crafting contest and sure could use your votes!
