Show and Tell: Project Small Blog Rebuild

So excited to share the latest web project I’ve been working on! Hearts and Laserbeams collaborated with Delilah Snell of The Road Less Traveled store in Santa Ana to redesign and rebuild her Project Small blog. Delilah put together a layout she liked in Photoshop, and I used a highly customizeable WordPress template to build the site. The project also involved migrating her blog from the Blogger platform to WordPress and setting up a random rotating header image.

The newly redesigned Project Small blog

Why use WordPress instead of Blogger? Number 1, these days on Blogger you can not publish your blog to an external website. It has to be hosted on the blogspot.com system. Meaning you can only have your blog on their system using their templates. Customization is available, and you can do multiple pages, but you can’t really have your own site (that happens to have a blog) on your own hosting account. With WordPress, multipage websites are neat and clean and it’s easy for the end user to update and write new blog posts. But even more so, search engines love WordPress-based websites. When building the Project Small blog this month, all I had up was the under construction page and the new site was coming up on the first page of google searches for Delilah Snell.

If you’re blogging for your own fulfillment, Blogger is great. But if you’re looking to build your business by using a blog on your site, WordPress is hands-down the way to go.
