Today’s Peek in the Illustration Studio

Fun fact: when my left eye went rouge in my early twenties I started learning Braille… You know… Just in case. Thankfully it never ever came to that.
.
So naturally when I saw a kids book about the inventor of Braille at the library this week i grabbed it to read to the kids, and it knocked my socks off.
.
Did you know the inventor of Braille was a 15 year old french kid who lost his sight when he was younger? Louis Braille was frustrated by the pity he received as a blind person, and at the lack of books for those who couldn’t see. This is the single most significant invention by a kid to be so long lasting and make such a huge mark on history, and it’s pretty dang inspiring.
.
Can’t recommend the book highly enough – “Six Dots: A Story of Young Louis Braille” by Jen Bryant, with gorgeous illustration by Boris Kulikov
