Latest Web Design Project – Dear Handmade Life Website

We are so pumped to present our latest web design project! Nicole Stevenson and Delilah Snell have been clients of mine from the very beginning of my self employment, and I’ve built a bunch of websites for em – each just a little more involved than the last. The brand new Dear Handmade Life site is no different.

In an extremely smart move, Nicole and Delilah have decided to merge Craftcation Conference, Patchwork Show, and the Dear Handmade Life blog into one mega site. It made for an intricate couple of months of planning and execution, along with over 400 custom redirects to make sure every page from every old site redirected exactly where it should on the new site.

I think this change is really going to pay off in the long run!

Web Design - Dear Handmade Life by Hearts and Laserbeams

Why is merging these three sites such a smart move? I’ve got a few reasons:

1) Site maintenance takes less time.

When WordPress software and plugin updates become available, there’s only one website to backup and maintain instead of three. (You are backing up your site files and database before running your updates, right? If not my friend, get in on our monthly maintenance subscription. We’ll do it for you, and the first month is free.)

2) Your website should have a blog.

Every time you write a blog post, like the one I’m writing right now, you’re adding words to your site. Words that are searchable by Google. Words that can bring web surfers to your site via search, and then once they’re there BOOM they find out about what you do. And they love your writing so much theyย become customers!

But seriously.

The more content on your site, the more chances you’ll show up on Google. Delilah and Nicole have a great blog at Dear Handmade Life, and now they can use that to help get even more crafty-minded folks to find out about their hugely popular events Craftcation Conference and Patchwork Show.

If you don’t have a blog on your site yet, get on it. If you don’t want to write it? We can do it for you.

3) Increasing site stats.

All three of Nicole and Delilah’s existing sites that merged into one were getting pretty great stats on their own – but guess what?ย Now all three sites are teaming up like a bunch of dang Power Rangers to rock even better stats as one mega site. Seriously, I can’t wait to see how this changes things on the Analytics side of things!

(Nerd alert.)

And of course, the new Dear Handmade Life web design is mobile responsive, because if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a hundred times – friends don’t let friends design fixed width websites, guys. Your customers are looking at your site on their phones. Be ready for it. The new site design also features a great new interactive contact form that should help streamline the bajillion emails these ladies get every day and a really cute custom pin rear endon on the blog pages!

What’s your favorite part of the new Dear Handmade Life site?

Are you ready for a web design project of your very own?ย Let’s get to work.
