Free Printables: Funny Valentines with Food Puns
This latest set of free printables is one of my favorites, ever. Like, EVER. I’ve been exploring techniques and pushing my art style in my sketchbook every day this month, and here’s what I’ve been discovering. It’s really easy to create vector cartoon characters in Illustrator. And it’s easy to get lost in the sea of clip art style clean lines…
Don’t get me wrong, super cute vector characters are still my jam.
These funny Valentines featuring food puns I drew in my sketchbook feel a little more special to me. A little more one of a kind. The way the textures of the markers look, the imperfections of the hand drawn fonts that haven’t been live traced… I really kind of love it. But enough blathering about art styles – I hope you enjoy this year’s round of funny Valentines free printables!
Update: High resolution artwork has been removed from this post, sorry. Caught some people going above and beyond the “for personal use” printing it was intended for.
If you print this set of four food puns on a nice sheet of cardstock and cut in half, then in half again, you’ve got yourself four different funny Valentines to give to your friends. Print out a bunch of them and let your kids be the ones with totally unique cute funny cards to pass out!
Or get lazy and pick up some postcard paper that breaks apart into four pieces.
But maybe you really like just one of these. That’s why I saved each one as a free printable illustration sized to fit in a 5×7 frame.
It’s because it’s Valentine’s day, and I heart you.
If you’re printing these food puns out to hang on the wall, why not print them on some really nice resume paper? I bet the toothy texture of resume paper would look really nice as a backdrop to these free printable hand drawn illustrations.
Do you remember when I posted this strawberry on Instagram? One thing to keep in mind with your artwork – don’t be afraid to photoshop it to fit the rest of the series. Click to see what this originally looked like!
This taco illustration is the food pun that sparked this year’s funny Valentines – my husband Josh would LOVE to open a Mexican restaurant in downtown Savannah right next to the Six Pence Pub, which is where they filmed one of the famous scenes in Something to Talk About. He would also like to open a second Mexican restaurant next to that called The Six Peso Pub. Because food puns are the best puns.
Did you like this year’s free printables? Which is your favorite of the funny Valentines? And who’s got some great food puns to share?
