Chickens Hittin’ the Hay
The first time our new chickens went outside of the coop, they all went over to this big pine tree. At the end of the day when it was time for them to get back in the coop, it took Jenn and I 45 minutes to collect all these cluckers!
I told myself I was NOT doing that song and dance every day! We had built a huge coop. Even at full size, they’d have enough room inside if they never came out. But then where’s the fun in that?
Thankfully the ladies have gotten a handle on themselves since then. Here’s how hard it is to get em in the coop in the evening nowadays:
It’s enough to make me feel like farmer of the year.
Now if I could just keep the goats outta the chicken coop…
