Road Trip Technology – the Electric Cooler

About a month before we left town for New Orleans, my husband Josh mentioned that he’d like to pick up an electric cooler for our trip.

I’m not gonna lie; I laughed in his face.

Because who ever heard of a cooler that you put ice into, that you plug in? It’s totally silly, think about trying to take that thing to the beach. Are you supposed to plug it in there on the sand?

Why on earth would you need a dang electric cooler? We have two non-electric ice chests that we don’t use all that often, why do we need a third one that requires power? Just get a bag of ice!

Then, we got one.

And I am an idiot.

Because this thing is magic.

Our kids are huge milk drinkers. For our trip, we picked up a half gallon of milk to keep in the cooler, along with sandwich fixings and some Cokes for Josh. The entire 12 hour drive out, everyone had cold drinks whenever they wanted them, they were nice and cold, and there was no soggy food from the ice. And no melted ice to deal with on the other end.

And when we discovered our hotel room didn’t have a fridge? The electric cooler came in the room with us to do the job.

It’s pretty much amazing, and I will never doubt my husband again.

What’s your favorite go to technology for road trips?
