Illustration Project Giveaway: Colorful Seattle Coloring Book

If you were paying attention to our Instagram on Monday, I posted this awesome pic right after I received my copies of the Colorful Seattle coloring book in the mail. It was a pretty momentous occasion for me – this is an illustration project I’ve been working on with Colorful Cities for almost all of 2013.

This was such a fun coloring book project to work on for a few reasons.

Number 1, my brother Brandon, his wife Katie and their daughter Lily live just outside of Tacoma, which is a hop skip and a jump away from Seattle. (Making my dedication to Lily in the book a total no brainer.)

Number 2, I love to draw, and any project that will pay me to do that wins. This one in particular was a challenge because it was so many illustrations, and they were all pretty detailed and intricate.

And number 3? See number 2. I love to draw.

Here’s a little more in depth info about the Colorful Seattle: Explore and Color coloring book:

Colorful Seattle โ€“ Explore & Colorโ€ is an exploring guide and coloring book for Seattle!

โ€œColorful Seattleโ€ begins with a map of Seattle and a two-page index, including a brief description and relevant URLs for each of the locations featured in the book.

The core of the book is its whimsically drawn 28 illustrations by Steph Calvert, featuring some of Seattleโ€™s most explorable locations โ€” Oxbow Parkโ€™s โ€œHat nโ€™ Bootsโ€ statue in Georgetown, EMP Museum, Discovery Park, Fremont Troll and the Waiting for the Interurban Sculpture in Fremont, to name a few.

Illustrations are printed on one side to eliminate the peeking through of the next image and to reduce marker & paint bleed. Pages can easily go from book to art showcase as they are perforated at the top for seamless removal.

    • Sad to say we actually drew the OG Starbucks for the book, but couldn’t get clearance from them to include it. BUT all of the other locations featured? Totally green lit the project, so that’s something ๐Ÿ™‚ I was really impressed with how thorough Laura was in putting this together, to make sure there were no legal snags down the road.
