Web Hosting Options for Small Business

There’s two things your small business website has to have for it to go live. You’ll need a domain name – the url or web address you type into the browser to go to a website. And then the files that make up your website need to live somewhere, and that somewhere is your hosting account. If the site you’re planning is brand new, here’s a few web hosting options for small business to consider.

Bluehost

I love Bluehost, I’ve been hosting with them for at least 7-8 years now. Great customer service, and when a tech issue happens they are on it. Really easy efficient interface to work in. If you sign up through this link, I’ll get credit for referring you. Bluehost also includes a domain name for free.

All you’ll need is the most basic hosting package they have, no need to pick up any of the extra things they try to upsell you on. Be aware, even though they’re quoting monthly rates, it’s standard for web hosting companies to have you pay for a year at a time.

Hostgator

Totally comparable to Bluehost, great hosting and I believe they also include a free domain name.

Again – if you click here to sign up with Hostgator for your hosting, just get the most basic package, no need to buy any of the upsell items or services.

WPEngine

If speed is the name of the game, and premium hosting is in the budget, WPEngine is the way to go hands down. WordPress sites can run a tad slow on the budget friendly Bluehost and Hostgator options, but WPEngine is built to make your wordpress site screaming fast. The pricing is usually out of budget for super small business, with hosting packages starting at $25/month.

The only caveat here – if you click here to sign up with WPEngine, you’ll need to purchase your domain elsewhere, and you’ll need to pick up a separate hosting account with Bluehost or Hostgator to handle site specific email addresses (those special ones like you@yourdomain.com). WPEngine specifically handles wordpress site hosting – they don’t do any email.

Hope that helps! Absolutely reach out to me with any questions.
