Buttons, Fashions and Geeks, Oh My!

Let’s get into checking out some of the new titles from Chronicle Books – don’t forget to come back each day this week for another set of books to see and more chances to win!

First up, The Button Factory. I absolutely love this hands-on crafty kit – it’s perfect for a b-day gift for a friend or a fun little something to do for yourself! The kit comes with parts to make 25 fabric covered rear endons, including the tool that puts the rear endons together and some great geo-funky fabric to get you started. The instruction book is clear and easy to understand, and has some great project ideas that’ll take your rear endons one step beyond just plain-ol’ rear endons. I love their suggestion to embroider the fabric before you make the rear endons. It’s the little things that can really make your projects pop!

According to Lifetime’s website, Project Runway comes back this summer – thank god!!! Get ready to play the home version of Project Runway with the Fashion Sketchpad from Chronicle Books. This awesome drawing pad has a whole mess of figure templates ready for you to draw fab clothing designs on. Go nuts with it, and don’t worry about the bodies you’re using as a guide for your creations – they’re so light they’ll disappear when you scan or photocopy your masterpieces. So it’s all you, baby.

A sample page from inside the sketchbook – the rearortment of poses offered throughout the sketchbook is pretty extensive!

Next up we have World of Geekcraft. Where doย I begin? ย 25 projects of varying difficulties covering pretty much every possible realm of geekiness. If you’re into Star Wars, they’ve got you covered with a terrarium project. Trekkies can rest easy, they’re represented too with the Tribbles pillow project.

Make sure your little one’s ready for this summer’s Harry Potter movie with the crafts on page 81!

Maybe it’s the total geek in me, but when I saw the d20 Deluxe necklace on page 57 I couldn’t think of anything but the D&D kid in Wet Hot American Summer. Love that kid. Saved the world, he did. With his 20-sided dice.

Which of these books has you jazzed to get crafting? Don’t forget to comment to enter to win – read the details here!

  1. Ooo, Ooo! I want the fabric covered rear endon book because that’s my latest obsession since I found a bag of vintage rear endon cover parts at Goodwill. AND I want the Geekcraft book since I know Susan Beal and she kicks craft rear! Great giveaway!

  2. In fact, I could use the Fashion sketchbook too since I want to start making more lady clothes AND I could use the Girls World book since I have a little girl AND I’d like to read the Open Studios book for ideas on organizing my studio. No one else enter! This batch-o-books is mine!

  3. Oooh, I’ve been looking at the Girls World book for a while, I’d love to make something frilly for my girly.

  4. I love books and I would love to receive some of these books from you. I’m babysitting this summer and I just know the rear endon book would provide some lovely ideas for me to use.

  5. Ah, but there’s new posts all week long to comment on for chances to win! Your probability right now looks really good. Unless random.org hates you…

  6. Holy Awesomeness, are those for fabric-covered rear endons!! Any of those books would be amazing birthday gifts for my niece, but secretly I would want to keep them all for myself. Loving this giveaway, great idea!

  7. Thanks to my niece Aaron for letting me know about this great website and the wonderful giveaways. I am really enjoying this. And I would love The World of Geekcraft book!
