Freelance Illustration Projects online at Michael’s!

Okay it may be silly, but I will never ever get tired of seeing my freelance illustration projects in the wild! This week I found out the super cute line drawings I created for Ooly are available online at Michaels craft stores! Exclamation points!!!!!

How cool is this?! I immediately did some research to see if these water painting kits are in stores here in the Atlanta area or even in Southern California where I grew up, but no dice so far. Looks like these babies are available online only for now – but if that changes you KNOW I’m going to the original Michaels I went to growing up, that one on Edinger in Huntington Beach to see it on the shelf!

It’s a little bit surreal to find pieces of art with my name on them in stores. It’s not something new per se, because I’ve been working on illustrations for a slew of clients over the past 20+ years that have sold tees, clothes, and housewares in major retailers like JC Penney, Target, Urban Outfitters, and so on.

The special thing now is 20+ years into my career I’m seeing pieces in stores that have my own name attached. That doesn’t usually happen with t-shirts, y’all.

So here’s what I’m wondering – will these Hidden Colors kits ever be in physical brick-and-mortar Michaels Stores? Let’s keep an eye out together, okay?
