Steps to The Perfect Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich - Hearts and Laserbeams

How to make Phil’s perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich

1) Phil’s perfect sandwich consists of wheat bread with zero seeds in it. If he finds so much as one tiny bit of something that could be a seed besmirching the perfect canvas of bread, you may as well throw the whole loaf out the back door for the chickens because he sure ain’t gonna eat it.

2) Slather some peanut butter on both pieces of bread. Incidentally, I never used to do it this way, but Josh pointed out it helps keep the bread from getting soggy. I go a little light on the peanut butter on my own sandwiches so it doesn’t feel like my mouth is getting cemented shut.

3) Grape jelly is all Phil and Josh will eat. Strawberry is what Joy and I eat. We’re a house divided, but we still manage to get along somehow. Even if Phil and Josh do eat the grossest jelly on the planet.

4) Line your bread so the corners are precisely on top of each other, and cut it diagonally twice so you end up with 4 little triangles. If you cut Phil’s sandwich any other way, you are a neanderthal with should give up ever cooking anything ever again.

I’m kidding… but not.

  1. I think Thomas and Phil must be related. His peanut rear ender sandwich, however, has no jelly. They have to be perfect triangles and no hard crust on the edges. Very picky. So ….Don makes them better than I since he is the artist. Also, he prefers Don’s grilled cheese. Guess the artist is sometimes the better cook.

  2. I make my PB&J pretty much like Phil does. Cover your eyes Phil…okay, truth be told I prefer strawberry jam or preserves over grape because it spreads an tastes better. But it has to be seedless of course.
