How To Get an Avatar

Have you ever left a blog comment that pulled up a weird random picture next to your name and wondered how to get your own avatar?

It’s so easy, and it takes like 3 seconds!

Here’s what I’m talking about – take a look at the comments that were left on my fairly popular post about funny Draw Something pictures:

The avatars I circled in red are the random ones that come up when folks that don’t have a custom avatar leave aย comment on my blog. I didn’t circle em in red because they’re wrong or bad! But here’s how to get a custom avatar like the others that show up in that pic:

  1. Go to Gravatar.
  2. Click “Sign Up”.
  3. Click “Manage My Gravatars”. From there, you can add an image to use as your “Gravatar.” And once you’ve done that, any time you post a comment on a WordPress based website using your email address ย the image you chose will show up!

It’s that simple!

But Steph, what about the blogspot hosted blogs? How do I get an avatar for those sites?

It’s not hard, y’all.

  1. Go to Blogspot.com
  2. If you have a Blogspot account (or a Google account) log in. If not, sign up for a new account.
  3. Upload a picture.

Boom! All set!

And that’s the ins and outs of how to get an avatar – happy commenting!
