Celebrating Firsts with Pampers GIVEAWAY: Phil’s Foray into Potty Training
This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.
We’re in this really interesting transitional phase right now in the whole kids and diapers thing. Phil’s 3 years old and working on his potty training. The little girl is due next March, which is going to bring on a whole new slew of dirty diapers.
Me? I am totally jonesing for a diaper break.
I’d also like an “accidents” break, if you know what I mean.
And a laundry break.
When you’ve got little kids, it’s a constant stream of toilet humor, if you get my drift.
Gross!
But there’s hope, guys. There’s hope. Last weekend, I put Phil down for his nap a little later than usual. He was not having it. At. All. He lay in bed protesting for 45 minutes as I hunched over the light table in the office, working on inking up a coloring book I’m illustrating for Living Faith Church.
Suddenly, Phil stopped crying. I heard the tell-tale sounds of him climbing out of bed, and fought the urge to go in and put him back in bed for another round of yelling. I’m so glad I did.
Because then something magical happened.
That little boy walked down the hall, went into the bathroom, and used the potty chair all by himself.
It was like the heavens opened up, glorious light shone down on that potty, and I felt like we had accomplished something far more amazing than my buddy Dan’s recent hike up Mount Everest.
I want to shout it from the rooftops –
Phil used the potty chair all by himself.
He followed this majestic feat up with a bunch of accidents… but let’s celebrate that first time on the potty without being told, because it feels like progress!
We need to celebrate it, because we’re getting right back into diapers next March. It was so nice of Pampers to celebrate our little girl, and our pending diaper doom, with a pack of Swaddlers diapers. Phil was fascinated by the huge box of goodies we received, but in true kid fashion really just wanted to play with the box. So Josh obliged, making him the coolest cardboard mack truck ever:
Pampers Swaddlers are Pampers’ softest diaper ever, and while moms have always loved Swaddlers for their newborns, Swaddlers are now available through size 5! Which means, baby can stay in the diaper mom loves throughout her baby’s diapering years.
But please, little girl. Please be potty trained by 2 years old. I’m begging you.
Muhmuh needs a potty break.
