Pooler MOPS Educational Fair

It’s totally bizarre to me that it’s time to start thinking about preschool for Phil. How is he almost 5 years old already??!

My mom in law Carole had mentioned Montessori schools a while back, and I totally dismissed it because that name just sounds fancy and expensive. But then, a few weeks ago I heard a radio commercial for a Montessori school in South Carolina that was free. And I was like, “whuuuuuuuuuut?!!”

Because free is exactly what we can afford to pay, and not a penny more.

Over the weekend I started Google searching Savannah area Montessori schools, and found Coastal Empire Montessori. Which is also a free school. It’s a half hour drive, but for a rocking education for that super smart boy of ours… I do not care. I’ll drive five hours each way for that.

Just kidding, no I won’t. But I do know I’ll drive 30 minutes to get him to a really great school. I put in an application for him on Monday, and you should too! It’s a lottery based admission, so good luck to us both if you do. (Update: I just heard back from the school, and they are strictly Chatham county residents only. Sorry, Effingham.)

The nice thing is the schools here in Effingham county are really great – we’ll be getting him an application there for preschool as well as soon as they’re available. If Phil doesn’t get in at Coastal Empire Montessori, I’ll get a much shorter drive… Or he can ride the bus. Everybody wins!

I’ve got a handle on where we’re trying to get Phil into preschool in the fall, but if you’re still trying to figure that out for your own kids, you should make plans to visit the Pooler MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) Educational Fair this month!

Pooler MOPS Educational Fair - Hearts and Laserbeams

There will be all kinds of info about area preschools, public and private schools, homeschool co-ops, early intervention, and more. Take a few minutes to chat with representatives from the schools you might be interested in. Take deep breaths that it’s time to start thinking about that for your kid.

The fair will go until 1pm, so those who work can try to get there during lunch hour. through the lunch hour to accommodate those who work. Let your friends and family know there’s an opportunity to learn about all of the different educational options available in the Greater Savannah area including Pooler and Rincon!
