Our Episode of the Raising House Reality Show Airs Tonight!

It almost feels like this was such a long time ago… but my family – specifically my mom in law Carole – was filmed for an episode of a reality show.

Two years ago, when we moved to Guyton, Georgia from Long Beach, California, and Carole moved from Las Cruces, New Mexico, we all shared our small house while Carole’s house was built next door. The whole process was recorded for the Raising House reality show on the DIY Network.

We were bound by contracts to keep our mouths shut, so um…. By the way we’re gonna be on tv!

Our episode of the Raising House reality show airs TONIGHT on the DIY Network, at 11pm. So get them DVRs ready to record!

Our Reality Show Episode - Raising House on DIY Network - Hearts and Laserbeams

Carole’s house was built by the super friendly and professional Scotty Snipes of Snipes Homes and Construction. If you click that link to his site, you’ll see his full photo gallery of my mom in law Carole’s place. He did such a good job, guys. You know I get paid to write blog posts sometimes, I get free samples from time to time… We got nothing for being on this show, I’m just really happy to tell you how awesome it was to work with Scotty.

Carole bumped up her cable subscription just in time for the show to air tonight, and she’s gonna record it on her DVR so we can all check it out as a family tomorrow. And I’m ever so slightly worried.

Whatย I worry about withย our reality show airing

My biggest fear is we’re all gonna look like a bunch of jerks.

When Carole’s house was getting built, her entire house and our entire house were both packed up in boxes stacked everywhere you looked in one house that both our households were sharing.

Josh and I were in the midst of a long distance marriage that was putting a strain on things.

I was trying to transition my design and illustration business from being based in southern California to rural Georgia.

We were on AT&T for our cell service… and if you’re in Effingham County you know how well that was working out. We had a chair out permanently perched out by the road where we would do all of our phone calls.

I think we were all stressed out more than we’ve ever been, and I’m not kidding.

So when you watch the episode tonight… Please be gentle.

And I’m sorry if any of us come across as less than jovial.

That sounds silly.

But still – I’m talking about my own fears, and I’m being honest.

I promise, two years later we are MUCH less stressed out.
