Savannah Magazine’s Best of Savannah 2014 Party

Savannah Magazine Best of Savannah 2014 party

Last night, Carole and I got ourselves dolled up for the Savannah Magazine “Best of Savannah” 2014 party, and it was a hoot!

southern characters

This year, it was a Good and Evil garden party, with a massive nod to the best seller “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”. A few folks were wandering the soirรฉe dressed as well known southern characters like Jim Williams, Scarlett O’Hara, Forrest Gump, and more.

live

Along with a live band kicking out tunes that reminded me of Squirrel Nut Zippers, restaurants and other businesses from around town showed off exactly why they were voted the Best of Savannah for 2014.

Fancy foods from upscale restaurants were everywhere you turned. And don’t go thinking you’re being served stuff that’s been warming for hours – lots of chefs were on hand plating up samples as you watched!

shrimp and grits

The spicy shrimp and grits were super delicious.

Lulu's Chocolate Bar

And we were overjoyed to see Lulu’s Chocolate Bar representing! It’s hands down one of my favorite places to have dessert in the city.

Carole gets a chocolate covered strawberry

We totally helped ourselves to a few of their amazing chocolate covered strawberries. (And made plans to return to the table in various disguises throughout the rest of the evening.)

wine mousse Greek food

The other stand out tasty treats? I loved the mango and coconut mousse. I mean, I LOVED IT. And the plate of Greek food samples from Yia Yia’s won for best of the evening as far as Carole and I were concerned. The food was amazing, but we also really dug how they put a little taste of multiple items from the menu on the plate.

Greek

Cheese, grape leaves, baklava… OMG.
