HEARTS AND LASERBEAMS POISED TO MAKE A SPLASH IN STORES EVERYWHERE
The brand will be shown for the first time at Licensing International Expo in June 2010

Long Beach, CA, USA – June 8, 2010 – After three years of selling her art and designs via the popular indie craft marketplace Etsy (www.etsy.com), artist Steph Calvert of Hearts and Laserbeams is ready to take things to the next level. At June’s Licensing International Expo, Hearts and Laserbeams will be presented by Jonathan Breiter of The Public Group as a new character based all-ages license available for use on products including t-shirts, melamine dinnerware, stationery, bedding and more. The artwork is unique in that it’s built on the belief that funny character art can be witty without being at someone’s expense. Hearts and Laserbeams is empowering, friendly, and best of all, cute as heck.

“All I’ve ever wanted to do with my art is to make people smile and laugh,” Steph Calvert says, “if I’m not having fun when I’m creating it, then what’s the point? I’m really excited to take my work to a larger audience and brighten a few more days with it!”

As her licensing ventures get off the ground, Steph Calvert says people will still be able to buy handmade from Hearts and Laserbeams. “The focus of the Etsy shop will transition to more one-of-a-kind pieces, art prints and paintings,” she shares. “Folks that are interested in learning more about Hearts and Laserbeams when they see items in stores will be able to purchase handmade direct from the artist in my Etsy shop, and people that are in my Etsy shop will be able to find out where they can find my artwork in major stores near them, so everyone wins!”

It’s the artist’s hope that this mutually beneficial scenario will encourage visitors at the Licensing International Expo to join the growing indie designer trend and pick up a license for Hearts and Laserbeams. “Who knows, it could be the next Paul Frank!” she says.

Licensing International Expo runs from June 8, 2010 through June 10, 2010, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
