Waiting, waiting, waiting

I’m hanging out in the waiting room at my doctors office, and guys.

Why are we always on time for doctors appointments when they’re always late?

It’s only 20ish minutes late so far this morning, but one time I was scheduled for an 8am appointment when the tech who would be drawing my blood wasn’t even scheduled to be here til 9am. That makes zero sense. Another patient just asked how much longer until she’d be seen and was told some patient emergencies came up today. Now I feel like a jerk for saying anything.

But, I will tell you I used to have a retina specialist I had to go to in my early twenties, and every single time I made an appointment, I’d have to take the entire day off work because I’d be in the waiting room for 4 HOURS. Every time.

I think the waiting is the most frustrating part of going to the doctor, which is why I was so excited to find out about Minute Clinic at CVS. As a work at home muhmuh, I’m the one that takes Phil in when he gets sick. He’s 3, he hangs out with the kids in the nursery at church and at the babysitters.

He gets sick a lot.

It’s nice to know that the next time he comes down with a cough or a fever, instead of spending 3-4 hours getting him to his regular doctor I can jet on down to the CVS that’s super close to my house, log in via a computer, and get seen and sent on my way asap.

Because seriously.

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

By the way – when I left the doctor’s office yesterday, I had been in the waiting room for an hour. And my phone ate half of this blog post. It was a frustrating day.

What’s the most frustrating thing about going to the doctor for you?

  1. I hate that! I hate that as a patient you can get charged for being late for an appointment or even refused to be seen except your doctor can be hours late and you are screwed! I have been the very first patient of the day and the doctor was almost an hour late. Meanwhile I am missing being paid at work AND paying to see the jerk. The system is so messed up!
