Really Great Read – 30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

There’s a blog post I’ve seen linked to over and over again in the past week on Facebook – so I finally clicked over and read “30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself,” and it’s a doozy, guys. Thirty great tips on things you can work on in your life to start living happier. I’m one of the most optimistic people I know, and there’s still things on the list I need to get better at (“Stop being scared to make a mistake” and “Stop worrying so much”).

But there’s other items on the list that I rock at. I’d put “Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments” on the list of things that I’ve definitely got a handle on. Little boy Phil is awesome to have around in that sense, because as you’re supervising him walking around a park, he’s finding magic in tiny things like that ant walking along in the dirt. And he’s more than happy to share that magic with you.

“Stop trying to hold onto the past” is another really great tip. We all have baggage, stuff that’s happened years ago that still affects us today. The trick is to deal with it, rise above it like a hot air balloon, and move on to the future’s adventures. Having problems getting over your past? There’s no shame in therapy. I saw a psychologist for a couple of years to help deal with my own baggage, and it has made such a positive difference in life.

So click on over, have a read. Take stock of where you’re at on this list – what items are you great at, what items are you not so great at? Is there an item Marc left off of the list that you would add to up everyone’s level of happiness?

Leave a comment, let’s discuss!

  1. I know, right? It’s like each single thing on the list makes so much sense, and you read em all together and dayuuuuum. It’s kind of an amazingly good list of reminders.
