Heels For Work: Cute Shoes From the Internet

I’m totally wearing heels for work today.

I don’t know if I told you, but Nicole Longstreath from The Wardrobe Code came to my house a couple of Saturdays ago to film one of her Make Your Wardrobe Mingle segments for YouTube. (You know I’ll post a link when that goes live.)

As Nicole pulled all kinds of things out of my closet that I haven’t even looked at in years, she started pairing them with all these cute shoes that I never, ever wear. Most of her outfits meant I’d be wearing heels for work.

I have no idea why I don’t wear them… Maybe because as a work at home mom I don’t feel like heels are practical enough for running around the house in between work tasks? Maybe because there’s no one I need to impress in my home office? Phil and Joshnigel seem to like me just fine in my beat up Chucks, so there ya go. Heels at work have just not felt like something I needed to do.

But these cute shoes are going to waste along with the rest of the awesome pieces I’ve forgotten about in my closet! Serious thanks to Nicole for encouraging to step up my style a bit! I’m taking just a little bit more time getting dressed in the morning, and it’s weird, but I do feel different. Y’all know how hard I work. But somehow putting together cute outfits for work makes me feel a little more professional. And heels at work? I may do this more often.

(We’ll see what happens when the boys get home next week and I’m wrangling Phil in the office… but as of right this second my resolve is strong!)

This is all a little foreign to me, guys. Ask my mom in law – I am a total non-shopper. Was a total non-shopper. More about that another time, but a little something’s been unlocked with my conversations and friendship with Nicole and I am actually having fun when it comes to shopping these days.

With that, let’s take a look at some really cute heels for work! These are shoes that are basic enough to work with a variety of outfits – some are inexpensive, some are a little bit of a splurge, but all are super cute!

With all of these totally practical wearable heels for work, I did come across a few that I’m just not quite sure how to wear… Nicole? Thoughts? What goes with Lady Gaga shoes?

Modcloth Moon Maven Wedge, $64.99

Modcloth Car Show Stopper Heel, $39.99

Ok I’m pretty sure these are impossible shoes to wear to work – but the question is where do you wear them? I also found these super cute flats, but they didn’t fit today’s heels for work theme:

Jeffrey Campbell Pencil Me In Flats, $97.99

Do you wear heels for work? Why or why not? Which shoe is your favorite?

  1. Oh, Steph – I’m so glad to hear this has changed your outlook! When we feel confident, I’m sure we also produce better work.

I love #4 and #13 in your collage! I’m not sure anyone should be wearing those turquoise wedges from Mod Cloth unless they’re also wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads.

    Keep up the good work!

  2. I *wish* I was a heels kinda gal. I feel like I tower over everyone else or that I’m this huge monster stomping around on a tiny heel. The visual is ridiculous. But I do love a flat and a wedge.
P.S. Steph looked ADORBS last Friday when we met. I heard the outfit was courtesy of The Wardrobe Code!

  3. Wendy – the last thing I think of is “huge monster,” but as someone who grew taller before everyone else in 2nd grade, I can relate. The trick to wearing heels when you’re tall is to go all out; they don’t have to be 5″ stilettos, but no kitten heels either. For you, I recommend my faves, #4 and #13.

  4. Thanks for your marvelous posting! I quite enjoyed reading it, you may be a great author.
I will make sure to bookmark your blog and will come back later on.
I want to encourage you to continue your great writing, have a nice day!
