Real Estate Websites: Traci Wells, Greater Savannah Area Realtor
A very happy web housewarming to client Traci Wells – our web design project for her greater Savannah area real estate business went live this week!
Real estate websites are a pretty different animal than your standard 5 page informational web design project. The most successful real estate websites feature full MLS integration, so potential customers can see all of your real estate listings right there front and center.
Even more important than that? Real estate websites better be mobile responsive.
Traci Wells’ real estate website features information specific to both types of her clients – buyers and sellers. Along with home value and mortgage calculators, there’s a full library of blog posts dishing out helpful tips on things like pulling together a down payment, how to speed up the sale of your house, and financing a home.
Something that became painfully obvious during this project is that customer service matters. Traci chose to work with us in creating her new real estate web design instead of the designer of her original basic html site.
I won’t name names, but her former design firm had changed ownership and she wasn’t wild about their new take on customer service. Which was basically no customer service whatsoever.
The scope of this project involved a transfer of control of the domain into her name, and in my own dealings with the former company I could instantly see why she wanted to work with someone else. It took forever to hear from the company, even when I reached out to them via multiple channels. I tend to default to emails, so that everything’s in writing. When I picked up the phone and called this guy a week later, I asked if he had gotten any of my emails and a sheepish “uh, yeah” was his reply.
“Then why didn’t you respond?!?” I wanted to yell into the phone.
And when it came time to transfer the domain, a “final invoice” surfaced out of nowhere that my new real estate client was forced to pay if she wanted control of her domain. It was charges she had no idea he had been racking up over the course of two years. It was terrible customer service.
I was embarrassed for him that this was the way he chose to do business.
Because it doesn’t have to be that way.
