Negative and Positive Space
I love a good logo that plays with positive and negative space, and the way these arrows work with the skewed letter S rock my socks.
I love how the artist just added a few details to the ampersand to create the objects.
This is such a great example – less is more. This bold logo just works.
Monogram Style
A lot of high end brands use type-driven logos, but that doesn’t have to mean they’re boring. These monogram styles incorporate initials in a really cool way.
I absolutely love how these letters sit with each other.
If you’ve got a nice curly font that you’re using for your logo, you can create almost a crest feeling logo by adding to the already existing swirls.
Strong Icons
I love the sense of motion in this logo, and also the way the color scheme is worked in. You know exactly what kind of business this is without even seeing the name of the restaurant.
This iconic wool logo is so strong and memorable and successful, if you haven’t seen it beofore I’ll take all your lunch money.
(Don’t worry, folks. Literally everyone has seen this logo. You all get to eat lunch today.)
Saul Bass was like the king of strong logo design. Check out all the famous logos he came up with!
Clever Integration
I am a huge fan of clever logos that bring together two things into one smart little icon. This logo for Rocket Publishers is an awesome example of that – a couple of book pages brought so close together that they overlap… and they create a cool rocket shape with just a couple more lines.
If you’re working with an initial – is there a way to manipulate it so it gives the customer a sense of what the business is all about?
Which of these is among your favorite logo ideas?
If you’ve got other great examples of logo design, I’d love to see them – share your links in the comments!
