Exciting Update!!! As of last night, a new buyer has taken over Baibry’s, and plans to keep it open! IT’S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!

Small Business Saturday is upon us, folks! This shopping holiday started by American Express a few years back happens on the Saturday following Thanksgiving – it’s a great reminder to keep the mom and pop shops in mind with our holiday shopping. Where we spend our money matters. I have a very special request in honor of this year’s Small Business Saturday.

This year I’m urging my fellow Effingham county residents to give Baibry’s Coffee & Cafe a strong sendoff as they get ready to close for good on Sunday, November 30.

Baibry’s has been a staple in Rincon for 9 solid years, and earlier this month they announced their plans to close up shop.

This local cafe has been our home for Fancy Coffee Friday ever since we moved here in the fall of 2012. TJ, one of the guys in charge, has always been super good to our little boy Phil. They’ve had long discussions about trucks and cars and the importance of chocolate muffins. One Friday morning, TJ surprised Phil with an extra chocolate muffin to take home, just because. The ziploc bag had “Do not eat if you are not Phil” written on it, and you better believe Phil made sure we followed directions.

I am completely bummed out that this coffee shop is going out of business.

I know firsthand – it is the worst when your business isn’t going as planned. We as a community need to lift up the owners of Baibry’s and let them know how much we’ve appreciated having them as a part of our lives for the past nine years. If you live in Effingham county, if you’ve been a Baibry’s customer in the past, please consider getting through their doors one last time in the next week. It’s your Small Business Saturday duty.

I spoke with TJ this morning, and asked what I could share with you guys about their plans for the last week of business.

The number one way you can help support this transition is to make sure they run out of food and drinks. Get in the door, buy some snacks.

They’ve started taking down a list of names, phone numbers, and offers from people that are interested in buying their equipment – if that’s you, get in there and get on the list.

Free Muffin Alert -next Monday through Wednesday, Baibry’s Coffee will be giving out free mini muffins with every order til they run out. You love muffins, I love muffins. We know Phil’s obsessed. So go get some!

Friday 11/28: Closed for Thanksgiving

Again, their goal is to be totally sold out of food and drinks. Make plans to hit them up for lunch next week. Stop in for a quick dinner. Get two cups of coffee instead of one.

This Small Business Saturday, let’s help them run out of food and coffee as a thank you for nine years of caffeine.
