Fun with Phishing Scams Part 5: The End… Or the Beginning?

Don’t start on the back page of the book, if you haven’t read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, or Part 4 go get caught up first!

Days went by, and I never heard back from my Fun with Phishing Scams series buddyย Matheis. So I decided to be the bigger person and get back in touch:

Good morning Matheis!

I just wanted to check in; it’s been a few days since I’ve heard from you. I’m packing my bags and getting ready to come and meet you for our bank transfer!

I’ll be arriving at the Lome airport on Tuesday October 14 at 6pm. I’ll be flying in on Delta Flight 860, and that connecting flight is flying in from Paris. I’ll be picking up a rental car at the airport, and heading to my hotel. I’ll be staying at the Napoleon Lagune – it’s got 3 stars on expedia.com .

Could I get an address for the bank we’ll be going to so I can meet you there in the morning on Wednesday, October 15? I’m usually a late sleeper, but for 13 million dollars I’ll make an exception. How does 9am sound?

Thanks so much, Matheis, looking forward to meeting you. I’ll be bringing along some essential oils for you to check out – I’ve been doing some research on the most popular scents to use for our new candle-making business.

Have a great week,
steph

I couldn’t quite turn off the ridiculousness at that point, guys. So I designed a logo for our new candle company. Oh and then I built us a website.

Matheisteph Candle Company

It was serious fun messing with this dude, and I kind of can’t wait until the next spam email that accidentally makes it into my regular email inbox. Hope you enjoyed the ridiculousness!

Visit our new candle company here.

  1. Good work, Steph! Everyone should spend an hour a day eliminating scammers and should certainly explore different tactics for retaliation. Scammers often cause extreme hardship to those who are fooled by their on-line antics. My own measures I shall not write here … as they are severe but extremely effective!!

  2. This gold! What I am doing when someone send me such email – I simply paste my reply “You can collect the money as I am out of the country for cruise vacation and trying to spend the billion dollars that I received from the previous guy who emailed me”
